Telecom for YTU

The project owner is the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), University of Oulu. CWC has been conducting world-class education and research in the field of wireless communications engineering since 1995. The research centre provides a widely recognized, high-quality international research and learning environment for its 140 research and teaching staff members and visitors.

Wireless Communications at the Faculty of ITEE is studied in the Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering and the International Master’s Programme in Wireless Communication Engineering (WCE) established in 2010. The Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering focuses on electronic design, engineering physics, and communications technologies, which are global growth areas and areas where graduates’ employment rate is excellent. The Bachelor’s degree provides a strong foundation in mathematics and natural sciences as well as broad basic knowledge on electrical engineering. During Master’s studies students can specialise in four options: electronics design, electronics, materials and components, photonics and measuring technology or telecommunications technology.

Yangon Technological University (YTU) currently offers in total 78 programmes consisting of twelve six-year Bachelor of Engineering/Architecture undergraduate programmes and numerous postgraduate Diploma, Master and Ph.D. programmes in a variety of disciplines.

The Department of Electronic Engineering (EC), and the Department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) were established at the Yangon Technological University in 1986 and in 2012 respectively. The units aim at educating and training students to become professional engineers, specialists and researchers who

  • possess a strong foundation in the basic sciences and mathematics that will enable them to identify and solve (electronic) engineering problems
  • can effectively contribute to the building of a modern developed nation
  • have received high standard of education and training
  • can think rationally, approach and solve problems systematically
  • have the will and the ability to work for the good of the society, mankind and the environment

The capacity building project strongly supports these goals.

With the new Diploma Programme a long felt need in the up to date knowledge dissemination and knowhow in the planning of Mobile communication systems will be effectively addressed.
